We had a really good time this Memorial day weekend. It was nice to have the extra day off. Here’s what we did:
Saturday - Went to a BBQ at Erik and Kim’s house and got to meet they’re 6 week old son Liam! He is really cute and he’s doing great. He slept pretty much the entire time, even with everyone being noisy and stuff! I was surprised. It was good to see some of my old friends again. We had a good time hanging out. You can check out some pics here.
Sunday - Walker was invited to our neighbors daughters first birthday. So he and I went to that. He had a really good time playing and being outside. He especially loved playing with the bubbles and being inside the little ball tent…actually he had more fun dipping his hand in the bubble soap and trying to eat it, than he did making bubbles!
Margaret couldn’t make it to the party because she was out getting herself… a tattoo! It’s something that she’s been really wanting to do now for a while and it really means a lot to her. She got “Walker” tattooed onto her left forearm, where he laid his head for the very first time. It came out really good and it looks nice. I helped pick out the font. It’s called “Miss Fajardose“, in case you’re curious.
Monday - We just hung out around the house and played with walker. I pulled some weeds in the yard and then we BBQ’d some steak and hot dogs and ate dinner outside. It was a really nice and relaxing day.

Check out the work of artist Mark Jenkins. I especially like his Street and Nature series.
Very cool stuff!

If you haven’t read Michael Yon’s blog, you really should check it out. He’s embedded with the military (currently with British forces) and he gives great, detailed, reports from the ground in Iraq. If you want to hear how things are really going over there on the ground you should read some of his coverage.

Check out this first image of what Heath Ledger will look like as The Joker in the next Batman movie, “The Dark Night”. I think it looks awesome! Check out that “Glasgow Smile!!” Spooky!
I love how they are handling these new Batman movies and can’t wait to see the trailer for this new one.
(BEWARE!! It’s pretty damn freaky and may induce nightmares….seriously.)

This weekend we all drove out to Arizona for my cousin Chris’ wedding. We were a bit worried about how Walker would do with the 8 hour drive. He had a few little melt-downs, but we were all surprised and proud of him for hanging in there and being such a little trooper.
For some reason I kept getting tongues stuck out at me whenever I tried to take a picture!
The weather wasn’t as bad as I was expecting. Sure, it was 100 degrees or so, but there was a nice breeze to keep things relatively cool and comfortable. I even managed to keep my suit jacket on for pretty much the entire wedding!!
It was nice to spend time with our family out there, whom we don’t get to see often enough. We had a really nice visit and the wedding was beautiful. There was even a Bag Pipe player! The food was excellent (Best food at a wedding I’ve ever had!) It was a really nice day.
Here’s the lovely couple as they stroll down the aisle after just getting hitched.
We hope Chris and Bethany have a long, happy future together.

A nice article by Fred Thompson where he asks, why don’t we teach Military History in our colleges. I’m waiting for this guy to jump into the Presidential race.

I plan on putting together a “What I’m Listening To” list in the side bar or something. Until then I guess I’ll just do random posts.

Lately I’ve been really into the new album by Explosions In The Sky, All Of A Sudden I Miss Everyone. It’s real good. It sounds just like their other stuff, but as far as I’m concerned thats a good thing. I like to listen to it really loud in the car and while I’m working. I give it 4 stars. (****)

CBS is coming out with a show, called Kids Nation, based on “The Lord of the Flies”. They put a bunch of kids (ages 8-15) together, alone, in a deserted ghost town and see what happens. Sounds like it could be very interesting… and disturbing!

Last night Margaret and I went to the Sony Pictures Imageworks/Animation Wrap Party for Spider-Man 3 and Surf’s Up. It was at The House of Blues on Sunset Blvd. The whole place was taken over for the party. Clips from both of the movies were playing on a big screen and TVs throughout. There was food and even open bar! We didn’t eat very much, but we did take advantage of that open bar!
The night was a lot of fun and we both had a really good time.
(In case you haven’t seen it, the trailer for Surf’s Up looks really great! You can check it out here. We can’t wait to see that movie now!)
