On Saturday my Sister-in-law, Elizabeth, and I went down to the Comic Book Convention in San Diego. We had a really good time and saw some cool stuff. It was super crowded and the place is so huge and packed with so much stuff that its nearly impossible to see everything in just one day, but I think I was able to take in a good deal of stuff.
There is so much cool stuff there its hard not to spend a ton of money and go into debt! I was good though and only bought a few things. One of the coolest things I saw were a bunch of figurines of the crazy little characters from the Heironymus Bosch painting “The Garden of Earthly Delights”. This is one of my favorite paintings so I was really excited about these things (unfortunately I didn’t think to take a picture of them!). They were really detailed and looked exactly like the painting. I think that was a really cool idea to do that. They also had a figurine of one of my favorite Dali paintings too! I am going to try to find the place online and order some. They’re from Denmark or something like that. Other than that there was a lot of really amazing artwork and toys there, and of course there were a few comic books there too.
There were a lot of people dressed up, as usual. I think my favorite costume of the entire day had to be the dude that was dressed up as an Elvis Stormtrooper! He had a Stormtrooper costume on from Star Wars but he didn’t have his helmet on. Instead he had an elvis wig (with sideburns of course) and sunglasses and he wore an Elvis cape. It was pretty sweet.
Here are some pictures.

A bunch of different artists painted Darth Vader busts. I think this was for some charity and for the 30th Anniversary of Star Wars.
I thought this one was the best!
A really crappy photo of some really cool looking World of Warcraft statuettes that will be coming out later this year!
another crappy photo. It’s really hard to take good pictures because of the insane crowd of people!
Very cool sculpture of that devil dude from the movie Legend. I love the character design of this guy. amazing! Never seen the movie though.
NOSFERATU!!!
I want!
This statuette of Voldemort was absolutely amazing! It was so realistic!
This was a very well done costume. I don’t know how these people do it. It would drive me crazy to have all that make-up and stuff on.

My Grandma passed away this weekend.
She was such a great woman. She and My Grandfather have built an amazing, tightly-knit, strong and loving family. We will carry her loving memory with us forever and always remember the great times we shared with her and the impact that she’s had on our lives.
Rest in Peace Grandma. We Love you!
Born, Helen Margaret Hauschild on April 1, 1916. Here she is as a child.

This weekend could have been better. It wasn’t horrible…but it wasn’t great either.
It started off with Walker getting Pink Eye and having to leave school early. He also has a bit of a cold and he had a pretty high fever all weekend long. It’s never fun when he’s sick and it’s really tough to see him having a rough time. It’s really depressing to not see him running around and laughing and smiling like he usually does.
A while ago, Margaret and I finally chose a color to paint the inside of our house. So I decided to begin the project this week. On Saturday I began the prep work of masking things off, etc… in the living room. I had originally planned to do 2-3 walls in there and then finish the rest up later. I quickly realized that there would be no way for me to paint down there during the day with Walker running around, so I’d have to do it at night. Because of this I decided to cut it down to just one wall. I started painting around 8:30pm and discovered that painting at night isn’t so great. The low light makes it really hard to make things out and I was having trouble distinguishing what I had already painted and whether or not I was getting good enough coverage. I finished the wall at around 12:30am, cleaned everything up and went to bed.
The next morning I woke up and realized that the color we had chosen (which looked great on the swatch) was WAY too light! You could barely tell the difference between the new paint color and the plain white walls that we had! I though it was because of the low light playing tricks on me last night and the paint not being dried, but it looks like we are going to have to find another, darker color to go with. Oh well, at least I only did one wall!!
Hopefully Walker starts feeling better, we pick out a nice new color for the walls and we have a good week ahead of us!
(So far, so good!)
