Quarantine: The Game

Quarantine: The Game is live!
Play it now at www.QuarantineTheGame.com

This is what I’ve been doing for the past 7-8 months or so at work. I Designed the game and Art Directed a team that grew to about 20 people, who all contributed to building it and making it what it is today. The game was made to promote the film Quarantine, which will be in a theater near you on October 10. Here is what the film is about.

Television reporter Angela Vidal and her cameraman are assigned to spend the night shift with a Los Angeles Fire Station. After a routine 911 call takes them to a small apartment building, they find police officers already on the scene in response to blood curdling screams coming from one of the apartment units. They soon learn that a woman living in the building has been infected by something unknown. After a few of the residents are viciously attacked, they try to escape with the news crew in tow, only to find that the CDC has quarantined the building. Phones, internet, televisions and cell phone access have been cut-off, and officials are not relaying information to those locked inside. When the quarantine is finally lifted, the only evidence of what took place is the news crew’s videotape.

(You can check out the latest trailer for the film at www.ContainTheTruth.com)

The game is intended to be very similar to the movie. We tried to mimic as much as we could the look and style of the film. Back in January we got the opportunity to visit the set and take photos and video footage for reference. We also ended up getting the blue prints that were used to build the sets. We used all that to get the detail and look of the game just right. We designed, modeled, animated, textured, lit, rendered and coded everything that you see in the game. Everything was done, from scratch, by us at Imageworks Interactive.

I’m really proud of all the hard work and dedication that everyone on the team put into the project and I think they all did an amazing job. Take a look for yourself. Play the game and pass it along to others. Let me know what you think.

Stay tuned for the launch of the site, which I also Art Directed and Designed, in early August.

Catch Up

It’s been quite a while since my last post so I’ll just play a little bit of catch up here and try to post more often from now on.

Goodbye Fred Thompson - Unfortunately he’s dropped out of the race. I’m very upset and not sure who I want to support now. I have pretty major issues with each of the remaining candidates so I’ll probably end up just doing the “wait and see” thing.

Call of Duty 4 - I’ve been playing A LOT of COD4. It’s loads of fun. I’m very addicted. :D

Work - Been real busy. Getting some very cool projects. Just got rid of my P.O.S. PC and got a Mac, So that was pretty sweet! :)

Home - Cleaned and Organized the garage and installed some cabinets and a work bench. Thats something I’ve been wanting to do since we moved in so that was nice to get that going. I still have some organizing to do but everything is looking really good.
This weekend we drove a little ways up north from our house (about 25min.) to Frazier Park and played in the snow. It was the first time Walker had been to the snow and he loved it. We all had a really great time. You can check out some pics on his blog.

Our First Wrap Party!

Last night Margaret and I went to the Sony Pictures Imageworks/Animation Wrap Party for Spider-Man 3 and Surf’s Up. It was at The House of Blues on Sunset Blvd. The whole place was taken over for the party. Clips from both of the movies were playing on a big screen and TVs throughout. There was food and even open bar! We didn’t eat very much, but we did take advantage of that open bar! ;)

The night was a lot of fun and we both had a really good time.

(In case you haven’t seen it, the trailer for Surf’s Up looks really great! You can check it out here. We can’t wait to see that movie now!)

Studio Clay also launched this week!

About a year ago, a friend of mine from Tae Kwon Do approached me to design and build a website for her. She’s an artist (and a black belt) and does some pretty amazing sculpture. She wanted a site that she could use to promote and showcase her work. I thought it would be a good opportunity to work on my CSS skills. I had fun on the project and feel like I learned quite a bit about CSS and feel much more comfortable with coding now.

Check out the site, if you see any pieces you like or would like some custom work done you should get in touch with her.
